More Saladworks Locations Slated for Maryland 2010-11-11
Posted Date November 2010
Set to open in Q2 2011, the first Saladworks location from these developers will add to three thriving franchises already in Maryland.
New franchisees, Derek Morrell and Nicole Roudiez, are childhood friends going into franchising for the first time. Both Morrell and Roudiez are young, energetic entrepreneurs who were looking to grow and expand a business in their hometowns. Relying on the proven Saladworks concept and model, Morrell and Roudiez were confident in their ability to own and operate many successful Saladworks locations.
"For me, the appeal of moving forward with a franchise is that we would have the support and knowledge base of an entire company," Morrell said. "We can learn from their successes and avoid the mistakes that new business owners would typically make." Morrell and Roudiez are graduates of Miami University in Ohio. Both have been actively involved in the hospitality industry for over ten years.
"Derek mentioned the idea of opening a Saladworks and it sounded like an exciting, interesting opportunity that really sparked a conversation between us," said Roudiez. "I said we would make great partners and it has worked out for us to join forces and do this together." "Both Derek and Nicole are business-minded individuals who share in Saladworks' core value, 'the passion to be the best.' Their backgrounds in the service industry, coupled with their knowledge of their market will lend to many successful locations in their future," said Saladworks' Founder/CEO, John Scardapane. "They are welcome additions to the Saladworks system, as well as to the ever-growing Maryland market." Saladworks, the nation's first and largest fresh-tossed salad franchise concept, operates over 100 franchise locations in 12 states. In addition to its existing stores, the chain currently has over 60 units in development across the country.
Saladworks locations offer a "fanatic'ly fresh" menu of flavorful salads with signature dressings, proprietary soups and Fusion sandwiches. Saladworks' True Nutrition guide to healthy eating introduces signature salads averaged less than 300 calories and new "Powerhouse Food" ingredients. Saladworks was voted the nation's number one salad franchise by Entrepreneur Magazine for 2009 and 2010.
